Fitness Level 0 was the starting point, I had never found a place that ever fit, until Offshore. 4 months now, 3-4 x a week - no shortcuts, just work hard and keep showing up through the soreness. Throughout all of it everyone (coaches and classmates) have been incredibly inspiring and motivating, My manta continues to be, "Show up and Survive". 


Life happens, and for the last 2 weeks I haven't been able to 'Show Up'. I live on an old farm with lots of land and had to deal with a bunch of stuff there. For the first time in my life I was bummed to not be working out. However there was an unexpected silver lining. 


The work that needed done, I had done many times before, but I was completely blown away with how easy it was and the complete absence of soreness or pain afterwards. A few of examples:

  • We have a very hilly property and the trails need to be mowed, normally I would do the work over 5 days because it was just too much. This time I did it all in 1 day (13.5 miles) and was not even a little sore the next day

  • I had to move 50lb concrete blocks down a ravine a few hundred yards. In the past,I would have taken several breaks.  This time, no breaks and ran back up for the next one, no soreness the next day.

  • Everyday was full of 'farm chores' and still I had energy. Not since high school have a run a mile. On a whim I ran 3 miles, without stopping and then later that day walked another 7 -  no soreness afterward

  • Farm work done I'm back in the regular rhythm, but it was an incredibly encouraging to reflect on how far I have come. I'm stronger, have more energy and heal faster.
